Sorry for another Bummer

Fareed Zakaria interviews Bill McKibben on GPS (Global Public Square) - McKibben warned us 30 years ago when The End of Nature was published. His new book is  Falter: Has the Human Game Begun to play itself out. He says that climate change is coming on faster and harder than we thought it could back then and how human society has done pretty much nothing about it and that's largely due to the efforts of the fossil fuel industry and those who profit from it. He said the bright point is how well the engineers have done in making the solutions available, not that we can stop it now, but maybe could slow it down, reduce the impact, and save civilization. Good luck to us all. Now back to the issues of actual interest.

Krisna Floop at Mano Beach House

We're going to tomorrow to hear our young friend Krisna play tomorrow as Krisna Floop wherein he plays guitar, sings, blows on flute-like instrument, operates loops and sound enhancements with his feet. I've seen him do this before. He pulls it off very well, most cool sounds. He has other ways to perform. We want Rita, mother of Lucia, mate of Clay, to hear and see that so we're going all the way over to Seminyak an hour away to enjoy the beach and waves there till time for his concert at six pm with a nice sunset I'm sure. Bonnie's Ashes Site

Dear friend Bonnie died suddenly of a stroke in a gym here in Sanur last January. She and her husband Phil have come here from Michigan for a few months every Northern Hemisphere winter.  Met him at that same gym where I often play tennis. I was in a Vipassana retreat. Katrinka was immediately with Phil helping out. Did Bonnie's hair for the funeral. Bonnie's ashes were spread at sea with rose petals scattered with them. Someone took a photo from the boat and this artist rendered it into a painting. He obviously isn't thinking about the actual subject of his art. Or maybe he is. Funerals and cremations with processions of the whole neighborhood and gatherings to support those left behind are one of the most obvious things that happen here.
