Barking Dog

A motorscooter rode up. Begore it had stopped. Dogette Bandita started barking and ran to the gate to protect us against invasion. I knew it was Kadek. It was time for her to arrive. Bandi never barks at Kadek. Kadek is one of three locals she gets excited and jumps up on and wags her tail and walks with her. Once the motorscooter was turned off, Bandi stopped barking and ran over to where the gate opens. Guess she smelled somone familiar. Kadek came in and after we'd greeted each other said, "I rode a different motorbike today."

Scabs

Not the strike busting kind of scabs. The other day I was remembering how when I was a kid, I'd fall down and skin my knees, usually just one knee, often bad enough for it to bleed and a scab to form. Sometimes an elbow or two. Once I had a spill on my little red bike I called Beelzebub where I slid on asphalt with gravel and got scabs on both elbows and both knees. I was remembering those chapters in my life fondly and I wondered how long it had been since I'd had a scab. I couldn't remember the last time. It almost seemed like they can only happen to a kid.

Fooled by Everything

This morning I got tired of what I thinking about this and that and remembered a song I did with some friends back around 1980 called Fooled by Everything. It's the lead song on a tape I made that year with the same name. Here's a link to a page for that tape with credits and more details and links to all the songs. Mugging in Sanur

There's a stand alone ATM by a nice little eatery called Warung Kecil (small restaurant) in a fairly busy area but a little off the main street. A woman using it was confronted by a man who demanded her money and iPhone. That's an unusual thing to happen in Sanur. A few years ago a woman was sitting at one of Warung Kecil's two small tables in front and a guy rode up to her on a motorcycle, grabbed her purse, and was off. I heard of a few purse snatchings like that around here but an in person robbery is rare to hear about at all in Bali. We just go to guarded ATMs and stopped using stand-alone ATMs a while back - because of all the skimming going on here. They keep catching Burgarians doing it. A couple since I last wrote about that. I don't think I'll ever make it to Bulgaria.
